On 18 January 2022, the European Commission launched a European Strategy for Universities. Europe’s global role and leadership is one of the Strategy’s four key pillars, outlining the higher education institutions’ role in promoting academic and European values globally, building bridges, inspiring higher education reform, and solving global challenges.

The Strategy offers useful guidance for the higher education sector’s global cooperation efforts. Particularly, it makes a link between Europe’s global competitiveness and the EU vision for excellence that is open, fair, and spread across the regions, types of HEIs, and across the four missions in a balanced way. This principle of inclusive excellence is presented therein by the European Commission as rooted in European values and as one of the distinct features and key strengths of Europe’s higher education, but what exactly does it mean for European higher education policies and practices, and how does it translate to action at the national and institutional level?

Join us as we explore the strategic scope and role of Europe’s global higher education cooperation outlook and approach, through the emergent concept of inclusive excellence, and provide tangible ideas for implementation to EU policymakers and stakeholders. The panels feature a mix of policy-level leaders from the European Commission, and leaders from international associations, national agencies, and higher education institutions.

The panellists will discuss what inclusive excellence means for HE actors in the context of global cooperation, how this approach could be (better) leveraged to achieve institutional, national, and European level missions, what could be done at the European level to enable these processes, and more.

Contribute to these timely discussions by attending in-person in Brussels, or remotely, through the event streaming platform. Be sure to register today to secure your spot; registration closes 6 May. There is no participation fee for this seminar!
