Building on the vision of annually bringing the latest novelties of the Erasmus+ programme to the spotlight while integrating political and global perspectives, the What’s new in Brussels? 2025 programme offers exciting and informative panels, thematic hands-on parallel sessions, and plenty of networking opportunities – including a newly added (optional) pre-seminar ‘meet and greet’ time to catch up with colleagues and network over a warm beverage!

The new composition of the European Parliament and the nomination of the new European Commission (2027-2034), with a revamped political vision, agenda and thematic portfolios, will reshape EU policies and programmes supporting international exchanges and cooperation in higher education, research and innovation in the coming months. This year’s programme features introductory keynotes from a variety of European policy representatives on the EU’s longstanding and emerging political priorities in 2025, with special attention to implications for Erasmus+ and higher education. The short keynotes are followed by a complementary panel of “flash updates” on the synergies between research and education. Day 1 ends with interactive parallel sessions on Erasmus+ initiatives under the horizontal priorities (Digitalisation in the Erasmus+ programme and Inclusion & Diversity support), and updates related to the European Degree. We invite you to end the day by sharing your reflections with the other participants at a networking reception!

After starting with a warm beverage, Day 2 begins with “flash updates” on political priorities for international cooperation, followed by the second set of parallel sessions, focused on Erasmus+ regional priorities: the Mediterranean, Africa, and Ukraine. The concluding panel on transnational cooperation will facilitate exchanges on good practices and lessons learnt of alliances, both within the European Universities initiative and outside of the initiative. For a deeper dive into what topics will be explored in each session, we invite you to read the programme.

Join us in Brussels to connect with experienced colleagues from across Europe, directly raise your questions and concerns with relevant policy-makers, institutional representatives and stakeholders in higher education, and to return home inspired and ready for a new year of Erasmus+ initiatives and projects!
